What EcoFlow Announced
On 23 June 2026, EcoFlow unveiled the second generation of its STREAM balcony solar line: the STREAM 5000. Where the original STREAM range (the 1,200W Microinverter, STREAM Ultra, and STREAM AC Pro) was built around the European 800W plug-in solar limit, the STREAM 5000 is a much larger, modular home energy system. EcoFlow is positioning it with the tagline “Your first balcony power plant. Your future whole-home energy” — explicitly designed to start small and scale up to cover an entire household.
The headline numbers are a significant step up from anything in the first-generation STREAM range:
- 5kWh battery capacity per unit, stackable up to 90kWh by adding expansion batteries
- 5,000W of solar input — enough for up to 12 solar panels, which EcoFlow says can generate around 5,600 kWh a year (their figure, based on a four-person German household)
- Up to 3,000W AC output, enough to run high-demand appliances like a washing machine or dishwasher
- 0ms UPS switchover, a 10-year warranty, a quoted 15-year battery lifespan, and a rating of 10,000 charging cycles

The New Line-Up: Three Products, One System
The STREAM 5000 isn't a single box — it's a modular family of components you combine depending on whether you're starting with solar, adding storage to an existing setup, or building toward whole-home energy.
| Product | What it is | EU early-bird price |
|---|---|---|
| STREAM 5000 | Hybrid unit with 5kWh battery + solar inputs (5,000W) — the core of a solar-plus-storage setup | €1,599 (RRP €1,899) |
| STREAM AC 5000 | AC-coupled storage with no solar inputs — for retrofitting a battery to an existing system | €1,499 (RRP €1,699) |
| STREAM Expansion Battery 5000 | A 5kWh add-on battery to stack capacity, up to 90kWh total | €1,299 (RRP €1,599) |
| Smart Meter Dual CT | Clamp-based meter for overload protection and accurate self-consumption (free with first system, per launch offer) | Bundled |
| STREAM Gateway | Controller that ties multiple units into a whole-home energy system | Accessory |
EcoFlow's early-bird discount comes from an €800 coupon split across the STREAM 5000, STREAM AC 5000, and Expansion Battery. Prices are EU figures and will not translate directly to UK pounds.
The Three Bundles EcoFlow Is Pushing
Rather than sell components in isolation, EcoFlow is leading with three pre-built packages that map to three customer types:
- Plug-in Solar — €2,099 (RRP €2,697): STREAM 5000 + 4 × 500Wp panels. The entry point for someone who wants solar generation plus storage from day one.
- Retrofit Storage — €2,798 (RRP €3,298): STREAM AC 5000 + Expansion Battery 5000. For households that already generate solar and just want to bank it.
- Home Energy Renovation — €5,899 (RRP €7,491): STREAM 5000 + 2 × Expansion Battery 5000 + 10 × 500Wp panels + Gateway. The full whole-home build with ~15kWh of storage.
What's Genuinely New vs the First-Generation STREAM
Beyond the much larger capacity, a few changes stand out as meaningful upgrades over the 2025 STREAM range:
- Third-party ecosystem support.EcoFlow says the system works with Shelly, HomeWizard, Everhome, Tibber, and Homey, plus 1,000+ compatible PV and metering setups. The original STREAM was repeatedly criticised in reviews for being a closed, EcoFlow-app-only system with no smart-home integration — so this is a direct answer to one of the line's biggest weaknesses.
- OASIS 3.0 with “EcoBot”. A self-learning energy assistant that builds a strategy from your solar generation, usage, weather forecasts, and tariff data. EcoFlow claims it lifts solar utilisation by up to 32%, and that storage can raise self-sufficiency by up to 40% versus a no-battery setup. A Local Mode keeps the system running offline if your internet drops — useful, given earlier STREAM criticism over cloud dependency.
- Heavier safety engineering. EcoFlow lists 15 layers of protection — anti-islanding, thermal-runaway containment, ceramic cell coating, an aerogel thermal barrier, 24 temperature sensors per pack, IP65 weatherproofing, and a Smart Meter Dual CT that can shut output down on detecting an overload. This matters more for a 3,000W system than it did for an 800W microinverter.
A Note on the Savings Claims
EcoFlow advertises annual savings “up to €2,827” for the STREAM 5000, and figures as high as €9,262 for the largest whole-home configuration. Treat these with caution. They are manufacturer estimates, calculated on German electricity tariffs and a German household's consumption profile — not UK conditions. UK electricity is priced differently, our weather yields less solar than southern Germany, and the realistic payback depends heavily on how much of your generation you actually use yourself. When we have UK pricing and independent data, we'll run the numbers properly in our UK savings guide and savings calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the EcoFlow STREAM 5000 released in the UK?
EcoFlow announced the STREAM 5000 on 23 June 2026 and opened an early-bird ordering window running from 12 August to 15 September 2026, with products listed as “coming soon.” The launch has so far appeared on EcoFlow's EU store with euro pricing; a confirmed UK listing, UK price, and shipping date had not been published at the time of writing.
Is the STREAM 5000 a balcony solar system?
Not in the usual plug-in sense. EcoFlow markets it as starting from a balcony and scaling to whole-home energy, but with 5,000W of solar input, 3,000W of AC output, and a 5kWh battery, it is far larger than an 800W plug-in kit. EcoFlow states that higher input or output power must be connected by a certified electrician, so in the UK it sits outside the simplified plug-and-play pathway and behaves more like a small home battery and inverter system.
How much does the STREAM 5000 cost?
EcoFlow's EU early-bird pricing is €1,599 for the STREAM 5000 (RRP €1,899), €1,499 for the STREAM AC 5000 (RRP €1,699), and €1,299 for the Expansion Battery 5000 (RRP €1,599), with an €800 coupon split across the three. Bundles run from €2,099 for a STREAM 5000 plus four panels up to €5,899 for the full whole-home package. These are euro figures and will not convert directly to UK pounds — official UK pricing has not been confirmed.
How is the STREAM 5000 different from the original EcoFlow STREAM?
The original 2025 STREAM range (Microinverter, Ultra, AC Pro) was built around the 800W plug-in limit with up to ~11.5kWh of modular storage. The STREAM 5000 is a second-generation, much larger system: 5,000W solar input, 3,000W output, 5kWh per unit stackable to 90kWh. Crucially, it adds third-party smart-home support (Shelly, HomeWizard, Tibber, Homey and others), an upgraded OASIS 3.0 AI assistant, and an offline Local Mode — addressing the closed-system and cloud-dependency criticisms levelled at the first generation.
Should I pre-order the STREAM 5000 in the early-bird window?
We'd be cautious. The early-bird discount is genuine, but there are no independent reviews yet, no confirmed UK pricing, and no UK installation or grid-compliance detail. If you rent or live in a flat and want simple plug-in solar, a current 800W kit is a better fit today. If you own your home and want serious storage with room to scale, the STREAM 5000 is worth watching — but we'd wait for tested reviews and confirmed UK terms before committing.
