The ENA Plug-In Solar Register, Week Three: 47 Verified Kits, Perlight and APsystems Pass, Octopus Gone

As at 8 September 2026, the ENA's Type Test Register lists 52 devices under its Plug-in Solar Type and 47 of them are verified. That is seven more verified kits than on 7 September, and the increase came almost entirely from records that had been sitting at Non-compliant: Perlight's four 500VA kits and the APsystems single-panel set all passed on 7 September as revised submissions. At the other end of the list, the one Octopus Energy record has gone.

The register is half of the legal test. Since 27 August 2026 a plug-in solar device can be sold and used in Great Britain only if it meets the government's interim product specification and has been verified as compliant on the Energy Networks Association's register, the same type test register the distribution network operators use for every small generator that connects under G98. We page the whole list in a browser and keep the rows whose Type is “Plug-in Solar”; the certification tracker is rebuilt from that pull, and the week two report covers the twelve records added on 3 and 4 September.

What Changed Between 7 and 8 September

On 7 September 2026 the Type returned 51 records: 40 Compliant and 11 Non-compliant. A day later it returns 52: 47 Compliant and 5 Non-compliant. The headline count barely moves; the composition does.

6 records are new, every one of them Compliant, all dated 7 September:

Only one of the six is a new device: Shenzhen Skyworth's SWBS-T900-800, a sister to the SVBS-T900-800 verified on 4 September. The other five are the same products under revised references, which is the story of the week.

Six records are no longer returned. Five of them were superseded by the revisions above; one simply left.

• APsystems Premium Set Single-510W-Full black, ALTEN/21341/V1, Non-compliant since 4 Sept 2026, now replaced by ALTEN/21341/V1/A1.
• Octopus Energy, M1-800-E, OCTOQ/21124/V1/A3, Non-compliant since 2 Sept 2026, with no replacement record we can find.

One record came back. Perlight PowerPlug FLEX+ 500 (PLM-PPF-M-500), PERLI/21200/V1, verified on 27 August, was missing on 7 September and is returned again with its original reference and date. We reported it as gone last week; that was true on the day and is not true now. The register gives no explanation either way.

How a Non-Compliant Record Becomes Compliant

Perlight's four 500VA kits, the PowerPlug 465 and 500 and the FLEX 465 and 500, were published on 31 August as Non-compliant, alongside eight 800VA MAX and FLEX+ kits that were verified from the start. A week later each of the four reappeared with an /A1 suffix and a Compliant assessment, and the V1 rows dropped out. APsystems' Premium Set Single-510W followed the same path in three days: Non-compliant on 4 September, Compliant as ALTEN/21341/V1/A1 on 7 September, two days after its two-panel 1,020W set had passed first time.

That makes Perlight the largest verified range on the register, with 12 kits, and it settles a point we made last week: a Non-compliant assessment is the ENA's sub-category of “Further Information Required”, and the fix is a revised submission, not a new product. InstaGroup got there at its ninth amendment; Perlight and APsystems at their first. What a buyer should take from it is narrower. The reference on a compliant kit's label should match the current record, suffix and all, and a listing that quotes the old V1 reference for one of these five kits is quoting a record that no longer exists.

Octopus's Record Has Gone

On 7 September the register held one Octopus Energy device under the Type, the M1-800-E, published on 2 September and assessed Non-compliant. On 8 September 2026 it holds none. We searched the raw register text for the reference, the model and the manufacturer name, and none appears. There is no replacement record under Octopus, and still no Fox ESS device under the Type, which matters because Fox ESS makes the microinverter in the Octopus bundle.

Octopus is still selling. Its plug-in solar page on 8 September 2026 lists a one-panel and a two-panel bundle, each on JA Solar 460W panels, with delivery “estimated end of September 2026” and prices shown only after you enter a delivery address; the launch prices were £450 and £650. The page carries no register reference and no mention of the interim product specification, exactly as it did when we first reported on the launch.

A missing record is not a verdict. Perlight's FLEX+ 500 vanished and came back within a week, and a resubmitted device can return under a fresh reference. But a kit is only lawful to sell under the plug-in route once a Compliant record exists, and today Octopus has none at all. If you have ordered, the question to put to Octopus in writing is which reference the bundle will ship under.

The Five Still Non-Compliant

EcoFlow's EF-PS-800 has not moved since 26 August. In the meantime B&Q is listing an “EcoFlow Stream Micro Inverter including cable kit”, described on the page as a plug and play solar system, out of stock when we checked on 8 September 2026 and with no register reference on the listing. Both Hoymiles microinverters remain Non-compliant as bare devices even though City Plumbing's eight kits built on them are verified; the register assesses the submission as made. Anker still has no record under the Type.

What Is Actually On Sale

Of the 47 verified kits, we have a live consumer listing for 13. Nothing has changed at the retailers since our first-week report: Argos with six UKSOL bundles, City Plumbing with two of the same UKSOL kits, PatioSun and Thunder Energy selling direct, and Modular Solar through one Amazon listing. None of the seven records that passed or arrived this week has a shop behind it yet.

Two dates to watch. OVO's prize draw for five plug-in kits closes on 17 September, with its full offer promised “in the coming months”. Octopus's first deliveries are due at the end of September, register reference or not. The deals page carries every verified kit with a price.

G98, G99 and G100: Where the Register Fits

The ENA Type Test Register is not a plug-in solar invention. The Energy Networks Association keeps it on Connect Direct for every piece of small generation and storage that connects to the grid in Great Britain: solar PV inverters, battery storage inverters, EV chargers with export capability and now plug-in kits. G98 covers installations up to 16 A per phase, about 3.68 kW on a single-phase supply, on a connect-and-notify basis; G99 covers anything larger and needs the distribution network operator's agreement before connection; G100 is the separate recommendation for export-limitation devices. A type-tested device gets a reference on the register, and that reference is what an installer, or a plug-in owner, quotes on the notification form.

The difference with plug-in solar is who reads it. For rooftop PV the installer checks the inverter's record and the householder never sees it. For a plug-in kit there is no installer, so the register became a consumer document overnight, and the compliance status on it is the difference between a lawful installation and an ordinary appliance the plug-in route does not cover. How to Check the ENA Register Yourself

Go to ENA Connect Direct, open the Type Test Register and set the device Type filter to “Plug-in Solar”. Each row gives the reference, the compliance status, the date published, the manufacturer, the model and the capacity in kW. After this week the thing to check is the suffix: a record ending /A1 is a revision, and the V1 it replaced will not be there. Match the model code on the listing to the model in the record, because Perlight's -M- and -SPE- kits share product names. A compliant kit also carries the specification declaration and a QR code on its label, and that code should lead you to the same reference.
